COVID-19 testing is available directly through our sister lab Altru in Houston that now focuses all its resources on processing coronavirus testing.
MedScan’s molecular testing methods have fundamentally revolutionized microbiological diagnoses. They offer significant advantages over conventional culture-based methods including results that are achieved within hours instead of days and allowing for procedures that are more sensitive and specific.
PCR/UTI detection identifies more bacteria and fastidious bacteria than traditional urine cultures. We are proud to offer the following molecular testing services for urinary tract pathogen detection:
Acinetobacter baumannii Bacterial
Citrobacter freundii
Enterobacter aerogense
Enterobacter cloacae
Enterococcus faecalis
Enterococcus faecium
Escherichia coli
Klebsiella oxytoca
Klebsiella pneumoniae
Morganella Morganii
Proteus mirabilis
Proteus vulgaris
Providencia stuarti
Psedomonas aeruginosa
Staphylococcus saprophyticus
Streptococcus agalactiae
Candida albicans
RPP detection provides rapid diagnosis of bacteremia, particularly for low levels of bacteria in specimens. It’s valuable for detecting specific pathogens that are difficult to culture in vitro or require a long cultivation period. RPP detection is also useful in detecting cases in extra pulmonary specimens which may be missed by smear and/or culture. We use an advanced multiplexed respiratory pathogen panel utilizing multiple molecular hardware platforms. It’s a comprehensive, detailed assay that detects multiple respiratory pathogens simultaneously in a closed-tube, easy–to–use system.
Upper respiratory infections are responsible for many life-threatening illnesses, especially in elderly populations. We offer a multiplexed molecular respiratory pathogen panel developed to broaden and streamline testing for multiple viral and bacterial agents of the upper respiratory tract. The test is performed by nasopharyngeal swab and provides detailed information quickly and accurately.
